The Rev. Natalie Hanson was educated at Wesleyan University and the Harvard Divinity School. She is a clergy member of the United Methodist Church, now retired after 40 years of ministry. Much of that ministry was focused in urban parishes, with eight years serving as a District Superintendent in the Western, then Upper New York Annual Conference. On behalf of the Conference and as an adjunct for Wesley Seminary's Course of Study, Rev. Hanson for several years taught classes on preaching and worship development. She was also Co-Convener and worship developer for the NE Jurisdiction's Clergywomen's Convocation.
Rev. Hanson is married to the Rev. Dr. James Paul Womack, pastor of Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church. For seven years they've co-hosted the United Methodist Missionary Vacation Home at Chautauqua. Natalie and Paul have three adult daughters, and a permanent residence in the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
About Chautauqua Institution: Chautauqua Institution is a community on the shores of Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York state that comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue. CHQ Assembly is the online expression of Chautauqua Institution's mission.
