Chautauqua Institution's 2020 Summer Assembly begins with the traditional Three Taps of the Gavel address by President Michael E. Hill, followed by Sunday Morning Worship service with the Rt. Rev. Bishop V. Gene Robinson and the Chaplain of the Week the Rev. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas. Robert A. Jonas serves as guest soloist, playing the shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese and ancient Chinese bamboo-flute.
Three Taps of the Gavel is the traditional presidential address that begins and closes each Chautauqua Summer Assembly. The title of President Hill's remarks is "A Vessel of Hope, Carrying Lanterns, Weathering the Storm."
