Françoise Adan is the Chief Whole Health and Wellbeing Officer for University Hospitals and the director for the UH Connor Integrative Health Network based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Endowed Connor Chair of Integrative Medicine at UH, and the recipient of the Christopher M. & Sara H. Connor Master Clinician in Integrative Health award, Adan created and is successfully directing a system-wide initiative where state-of-the-art medical care is integrated with innovative, evidence-based therapies and services, to bring optimal health and wellbeing to all patients and employees. In her presentation for the Chautauqua Lecture Series, Adan will share this model of resilience she formalized for health care, and discuss how such a model has application across sectors and communities.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Adan spearheaded a new system-wide program designed to provide practical resources and compassionate support for UH’s 28,000 caregivers. UH is a comprehensive health system with annual revenues of $4.4 billion, 22 hospitals, more than 50 health centers and outpatient facilities, and over 200 physician offices located throughout 16 counties in Northeast Ohio.
With over 25 years of experience, Adan encourages clients and patients to understand the critical connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Trained in psychiatry and board certified in holistic and integrative medicine, she specializes in three areas: stress management, work/life balance, and the mind/body/spirit connection.
Adan earned her medical degree from Université libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, followed by three years of working in the field of family medicine. She immigrated to the United States in 1987 and completed a residency in psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic in 1996.
This program is made possible by the Joseph A. Neubauer Lectureship in Science and the Donald West King, Sr. and Francis Lila Lee King Lectureship.
